LA Lakers talisman LeBron James continued his sublime form going. James, who turned 37 on 30th December, continues to prove that age is just a number. There is no doubt that James is still at the top of his fitness and he surely has some more fuel left in his tank before he finally stops playing the game, which he has been a master of in the last 19 seasons.
James dropped 43 points against Portland Trail Blazers, which is the highest for him in the ongoing season. Furthermore, the linchpin scored 14 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks, taking LA Lakers to a convincing 139-106 win.
King James has been at his best as he has been averaging 36 ppg in the last seven matches, scoring at 58% field goals. He has also become the first Laker player since Kobe Bryant in 2012 with seven straight 30-point games.
Furthermore, he became the oldest player in the NBA to have seven straight 30-point games. Moreover, he also became the oldest since Michael Jordan in 2003 to come up with a 40-point, 10-rebound stat.
“I literally try to prepare my mind and my body and my soul on how I can stay young in a young man’s game,” said James.
“Sometimes you do have to remind people that you can still do what you do at a high level, and I’ve just been blessed, very blessed and continue to put the work in,” he said. “Because that’s what it all boils down to. It boils down to putting the work in and everything else will take care of itself.”
Akron Hammer added that he wants to be efficient on every single night he represents his team and wants to make a positive impact on the result.
“I’m not a guy that just goes out and just sees if I can jack a bunch of shots,” said James. “I want to be efficient every single night or anytime I’m playing. So as long as the streak I’ve been on, as far as my scoring, I’ve been extremely efficient as well. I take way more pride in that than the scoring. That’s just who I am as a basketball player.”
Lakers now have an 18-19 record and they will next face Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
