Los Angeles Lakers’ head coach JJ Redick has said they will need to reconsider LeBron James’ 82-game goal amid his dip in form. The Lakers suffered a thrashing 109-80 loss against Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday with James scoring tied season low of 10 points on 4-16 shooting.
The veteran hasn’t been at his usual best and Redick isn’t sure if it is in the best interest of the team to play James in all the season’s matches.
“I don’t know that’s in the best interest of him and us if he does that, but if he’s feeling well and feeling good, then he should play,” Redick said after the loss. “But we obviously want to … manage that as best we can.”
James went 0-for-4 on 3-pointers against the Wolves and he hasn’t been able to bring his best to the court. The veteran said he wants to play every game but he doesn’t want to think too far ahead.
“That’s a goal, but, we’ll see,” James said. “It’s something I ain’t discussing right now.”
The 39-year-old said he isn’t finding the right rhythm, which is frustrating him the most.
“It’s everything,” James said when asked what is frustrating him about his game at the moment. “It’s the rhythm. I just feel off rhythm the last few, three or four games.”
On being asked how he plans to turn a corner, James replied: “Work. Just work. That’s all.”
On the other hand, Anthony Davis said they need to come up with an improved performance in the upcoming matches.
“We got to get back into our spacing,” Davis said. “We are kind of on top of each other when guys are trying to drive. When guys are in their spots for shooting, there’s a guy right under them. So the spacing is bad.”
The Lakers, who have managed only two wins in last seven games, will next take on the Miami Heat on Wednesday.
