Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons has put his weight behind the Dallas Mavericks to go one step further in the upcoming season of the NBA. The Mavericks made it to the NBA finals in the previous edition but suffered a 4-1 loss against the Boston Celtics.
Parsons said Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are special and the duo can take the Mavericks to glory.
Doncic has already won the Rookie of the Year back in 2019. Doncic averaged 33.9 points, 9.8 assists and 9.2 rebounds in 70 games in 2023-24.
The Slovenian was close to averaging a triple double in the previous season of the NBA whereas Kyrie Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 58 games in 2023-24.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have also added the services of former Golden State Warriors veteran Klay Thompson.
“I think they’re already close,” he said. “They got a great group of guys. They added a couple pieces this offseason. It’s going to be a very interesting team, and I think they can actually do it.
“[Luka Doncic] is special. [Kyrie Irving] is special. Something like [the Cowboys], it was a couple games down the strecth and make their run. It’s a game of runs.”
Parsons wants the Cowboys to make a similar run like the Mavericks.
“Same with us, we’ve just got to go out there and make our run.”
On the other hand, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins was asked about the team which could collapse in the upcoming season, on ESPN’s NBA Today.
Perkins picked the Dallas Mavericks.
“I’m going to go with Dallas,” Perkins said. “Is Klay Thompson really going to turn back the hands of time? Is he going to be that guy that’s going to consistently knock down shots?
“And [Luka Doncic], we saw last season when he got to the NBA Finals, some could argue he somewhat ran out of gas.”
