Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham hailed the collective effort of the team after they defeated reigning champions Golden State Warriors by 124-111 on Thursday night at the Crypto.com arena. Malik Beasley top-scored with 25 points for the home team as he brought his best to the court.
In fact, Anthony Davis and LeBron James had a quiet night for the Lakers as they scored 12 and 13 points respectively. However, Rui Hachimura, Mo Bamba, Lonnie Walker IV, Austin Reaves, and Dennis Schroder all scored in the double digits to help the Lakers beat Dubs.
“Just overall great team win. Everybody contributed, everybody had different moments and guys stayed aggressive,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said as quoted by AP. “I feel great about what we’ve been able to do (since the trade deadline). It’s paying dividends right now and we’ve just got to continue to get more and more familiar with one another.”
Meanwhile, Beasley was delighted after a crucial win and he said any player can step on a given day for them after their two star players had a rough night.
“LeBron and AD didn’t get going as much as they wanted tonight, but we’re deep, and I think that’s the statement we want to make,” Beasley said. “It can be any player on any given night.”
The Lakers had won their previous match against New Orleans Pelicans by 120-102 before the All-Star break. Anthony Davis highlighted that the team is putting up a collective show on the court.
“We’re still figuring things out on the fly,” said Davis, who had 12 rebounds. “The past two games we’ve really looked good as a whole. I think we’ve got a complete team where we’re able to make a run.”
The Lakers will next face Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night.
