Steph Curry has ruled in the NBA for the last decade. But surprisingly the Golden State Warriors star made his first appearance at the Games in the Paris Olympics. Steph being Steph didn’t disappoint as he brought his A-game for Team USA, who won their 17th overall and fifth consecutive Gold medal at the Olympics.
Steph Curry, who scored 36 points against Serbia in the semifinal, added 24 points in the final against France, including eight three-pointers. The Golden State Warriors star averaged 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 0.7 steals per game at the Games.
Earlier in 2014, Curry had won gold with Team USA in the FIBA World Championships.
I talked to him a lot about that—him being in his first Olympic Games,” James said on GoJo and Golic show. “He had played in the World Championships before, but being part of the Olympics for the first time, he was new to it. You could see every single day, every single moment—it was right there. … I knew the onslaught was going to happen. … We saw that in the semifinal versus Serbia, and we saw it in the final versus the host team, France.
“Steph did what Steph does, hitting those big-time shots and putting everybody to sleep. It was an unbelievable moment, and I was happy to be alongside him.”
On the other hand, James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists on 66% shooting in the Olympics and thus played an instrumental role in taking his team to glory.
LeBron James was named Olympic MVP after scoring 14 points with six rebounds and 10 assists in the summit clash.
Team USA defeated France by 98-87 in the final to take the gold medal.
James and Curry will be seen in action in the upcoming season of the NBA for Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors respectively.
