The LA Lakers have had a perfect start in the preseason as they won both their matches against arch-rivals LA Clippers. The Lakers come out on top despite the fact that their gun players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis warmed the benches. The Lakers won the first match by 87-81 and then thrashed Clipper by 131-106 in the second match.
It was Talen Horton-Tucker who stole the show in both the matches as the 20-year old was on a roll. The youngster scored 19 points in the first matches whereas he played at the top of his game to score 33 in the second. The Shooting guard also top-scored with rebounds as he scored 12 in the first match and 11 in the second match.
Consequently, the youngster came up with a complete performance and he was effective at both ends of the court. Lakers legend LeBron James heaped praise on Horton-Tucker and stated he is super talented. In fact, James revealed that he told his agent to keep an eye on the young kid when he was rising through the ranks.
“We can see what he’s capable of doing,” LeBron said. “I saw it about 3-4 years ago; I was watching a high school basketball game, and I happened to catch him playing, I told my agent… you need to take a look at this kid… he’s super talented… You can see what he’s doing now. He’s going to continue to get better and better. He’ll get an opportunity to practice against us veterans. He’s going to continue to improve, and he’s going to do some really good things in this league for a long time.”
Tucker was drafted by Lakers as the 46th pick in the last season but he didn’t get to play a lot for the champions. He featured in just six regular-season games, averaging 13.5 minutes, and played two playoff games, averaging 8.5 minutes.
However, the rookie has notably improved his game and he would aim to continue the good show. The Lakers will play Phoenix Suns on December 17 in their third preseason game. The NBA 2020:21 season will kickstart from December 22.
