Suryakumar Yadav shone with his batting yet again as he smashed an unbeaten 68 off just 26 deliveries in their Asia Cup encounter against Hong Kong on Wednesday to power India to the Super Four. After his innings, Virat Kohli was seen bowing down to Yadav to applaud him for his brilliant knock and Yadav felt that Kohli’s gesture was very heartwarming.
“It was a heartwarming gesture by Virat Kohli because I’ve never seen it. I saw him not moving ahead (walking out of the field at the end of the innings) and said to him ‘let’s move ahead together’.
“He has so much experience, I enjoyed batting with him. It is important to have someone experienced in a situation like this,” said Yadav during the post-match press conference.
Along with Yadav, Kohli also regained some form as he remained unbeaten on 59 off 44 deliveries. The efforts of the two batters helped India to reach a total of 192/2, which turned out to he a match-winning one in the end.
Yadav brought up his fifty in just 22 balls and went on to smash four sixes in the last over of the innings as well. He also talked about his knock in detail, “”The situation was such that I had to go to the crease and play fast because the wicket was a little slow in the starting. I talked to Virat Kohli, and he said ‘just express yourself and do as you bat’. My plan was also very clear on how to bat, so it was fun.”
He was also adjudged the Player of the Match as India won by 40 runs. Yadav also went on to say that he is ready to bat at any position and he is happy as long as he is in the Playing XI.
“I am ready to bat at any position for the team. I just want to play no matter what position I have to bat at, and that is what I have told my coach,” he added.
