Cheer Shami, not me – Kohli asks fans

Indian captain, Virat Kohli, had during the Asks Indore Crowd during the first Test between India and Bangladesh at the Holkar Cricket Stadium on Thursday to cheer for Mohammed Shami, who was in fiery form during the game after claiming three wickets.

The video showed the skipper who returned recently to his side after a short break that afforded him an opportunity with his wife telling the fans to sheer the fast bowler after achieving the feat. During Thursday’s game, the right-arm fast bowler, who usually bowls around the 140 to 145 km/h (87 to 90 mph) mark, helped his team alongside other Indian bowlers to restrict Bangladesh to 150 all out in the first inning.

The video has made many fans to like Kohli more. The captain has won the hearts of many with such display. The incident took place on Thursday when the crowd clapped for Kohli, who showed his mettle by working his usual magic for Mohammed Shami when he struck on the very next ball that cast Mushfiqur Rahim down for 43 on the fifth ball of the 54th over.

The fast bowler succeeded in trapping Mehidy Hasan Leg Before Wicket for a golden duck with his next ball, which reduced Bangladesh to 140/7 at tea.

Taijul Islam defended successfully to stop Sham, who had claimed a hattrick in the 2019 World Cup, from repeating the same feat in Thursday’s game. The right-hand fast bowler finished with 3/27, while Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin chipped in with two wickets each to help India bowled out Bangladesh for 150 in 58.3 overs which is paltry.

At the beginning of the game, the toss, the visitors won the toss and opted to bat.
Rahim is Bangladesh’s current top scorer with 43 runs off 105 balls. This included four boundaries and a six. However, five of their batsmen were dismissed for a single-digit score.

Rohit Sharma, who had a memorable outing in their last meeting, got dismissed by fast bowler Abu Jayed, who gave Bangladesh an early breakthrough.

Recall that Rohit had in a recent three-match Test series against South Africa batted as Test opener for the first time in his career and top-scored in the series with 529 runs in four innings, with a maiden double hundred.

With the situation, the second game is expected to be another close contest between the sides.
