Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has lauded Rohit Sharma for showing all the patience in his batting.
Rohit has taken his time at the crease and he has batted at the top of his game. Rohit has answered his critics in style as he has shown all the patience to be successful in the tough foreign conditions.
The experienced batsman is playing as an opener for the first time in England conditions but he has shown solid defense and he has backed his game.
Earlier it was noticed that Rohit was a bit impatient while playing in the overseas conditions and thus a lot of cricket experts questioned his success in the difficult conditions. However, Rohit has been getting off to consistent starts and he has India’s best batsman along with KL Rahul on the ongoing tour of England.
The right-hander has thus far amassed 230 runs in three Test matches against England at an average of 46 and has scored his runs at an uncharacteristic strike rate of 39.45. Rohit has shown confidence in his defensive skills and he has also left the ball with aplomb.
“He has made a huge change. He would be giving a constant reminder to himself that this is his new habit, that he will not hit the pitched-up deliveries, will play close to his body and extremely carefully. I am very happy,” expressed Chopra on his YouTube Channel.
Chopra added Rohit Sharma is adapting according to the match situations and he is giving respect to the new ball as well as the English fast bowlers.
“When you measure greatness, there are many criteria. One is longevity, secondly the stats, the third is how you inspire the others around you, have you created enough difference on and sometimes off the field as well. After that, the last one is adaptability, whether you have adapted yourself over a period of time. When you see all great players, they adapted their game somewhere or the other. The Rohit Sharma we are seeing is adapting.”
Rohit will look to continue the good show in the last two Test matches and score a big knock for the team. The fourth Test will be played at the Oval from Thursday.
