England will lock horns against India in the first ODI at Kennington Oval, London on Tuesday. India was able to clinch the T20I series by 2-1 and they will be looking to carry the same form in the 50-overs format. On the other hand, the Jos Buttler-led team will aim to bounce back stronger in the ODI series.
India had ticked the right boxes in the T20I series as they had played with an aggressive approach. The Rohit Sharma-led team has been in decent form and they will be looking to draw first blood in the series.
Meanwhile, former Indian captain Virat Kohli has come under the scanner for his ordinary performances in the recent past and he will be determined to prove his mettle in a format, which he has totally dominated in the last decade. Kohli has all the experience under his belt and it should be a matter of time before he returns to his best.
The ODIs will give him more breathing space as he wouldn’t be forced to take the attack on the opposition bowlers as he had to do in the T20I series. Moreover, Shikhar Dhawan will return to the team and he will also look to grab his chances.
On the other hand, England will be looking to make the most of their own conditions. Buttler will look to get the best out of his players and the hosts will aim to come up with a collective show, which they couldn’t do in the T20I series. Furthermore, England will be also boosted by the return of in-form plaers like Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jonny Bairstow.
Match Prediction: India might enter the contest as favorites as they have the momentum on their side.
