Gujarat Titans name Parthiv Patel as assistant and batting coach

    November 14, 2024

Gujarat Titans have named Parthiv Patel as the assistant and batting coach. Patel will join the coaching staff of the IPL 2022 champions, which is headed by coach Ashish Nehra. Patel played his domestic cricket for Gujarat and he will look to get the best out of the players at GT.

“With a distinguished 17-year career as a former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Parthiv brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team,” the Ahmedabad-based franchise said in the official statement.

Earlier, Patel worked with Mumbai Indians as a scout and also played the head coach role for Mumbai Emirates. Patel also has the IPL experience of playing for teams like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

“As the Titans prepare for the upcoming Indian Premier League season, Parthiv’s insights into batting techniques and strategies will play a crucial role in enhancing the players’ skills. Parthiv, who is known for his sharp cricketing acumen and ability to mentor young talent, will strengthen the coaching staff and contribute to player development and performance.”

In his 17-year career, Parthiv played in 25 Tests for India, 38 ODIs, and a couple of T20Is.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals has appointed Munaf Patel as the bowling coach ahead of the new season of the Indian Premier League. The 2011 ODI World Cup winner played for IPL teams such as Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Lions.

Patel will join Venugopal Rao, the Director of Cricket, and Hemang Badani, who has been appointed as the head coach of Delhi Capitals after Ricky Ponting decided to part ways. Ponting has joined Punjab Kings as their new head coach ahead of IPL 2025.
