India’s rookie batter Sarfaraz Khan has hailed Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. Khan made his Test debut against England under Rohit’s leadership and said he loved playing under the current Indian skipper.
Meanwhile, after his consistent performances in the Ranji Trophy, Khan got his maiden call-up for the five-match Test series against England. Khan, whose fitness has often been questioned, showed he was ready for the big stage, scoring a quickfire 62 off 66 runs in his maiden Test innings before he was sold down the river by Ravindra Jadeja.
Khan scored 200 runs in three Test matches against England at an average of 50.
Sarfaraz Khan said as quoted by News18, “He’s very different, makes you comfortable and is like an elder brother to us. I enjoy playing with him. He never treats you like a junior. He’s a positive guy. The way he speaks, it boosts your confidence.”
Meanwhile, the greenhorn batter also compared Rohit Sharma with Aamir Khan’s Lagaan character.
“Mai sahi bata raha hoon, meri favourite movie hai lagaan aur jo Aamir Khan ne jaise usme team banaya hai, waise jub mai Rohit bhai ko dekha toh, mere liye wo Aamir Khan hain. Family jaisa feel hota hai unke saath.” (Lagaan is my favourite movie. In that, the way Aamir Khan assembles his team, Rohit bhai reminds me of that. For me he’s Lagaan’s Aamir Khan. It feels like he’s part of your family).
Khan has shown the skills to go a long way in his career and he will look to continue the good show. The 26-year-old from Mumbai has been selected for the first Test against Bangladesh.
