I don’t think there is any arrogance in this team: Ravindra Jadeja responds to Kapil Dev’s remark

India’s celebrated all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, has firmly addressed former skipper Kapil Dev’s recent remark, dismissing claims of arrogance within the team. After India’s distressing defeat in the second ODI against the West Indies, Kapil Dev opined that players’ hefty earnings from the Indian Premier League (IPL) might lead to a ‘know-it-all’ attitude. However, Jadeja’s words echoed the unity and dedication that resonates within the Indian team.

In response to Kapil Dev’s comments, Jadeja stated, “I don’t know when he (Kapil Dev) has said this. I don’t search these things on social media. See everyone has their own opinion. Ex-players have full right to share their opinion, but I don’t think there is any arrogance in this team,” as he was quoted by NDTV Sports.

Unwavering in his belief, Jadeja asserted, “Everyone is enjoying their cricket and everyone is hardworking. No one has taken anything for granted. They are giving their 100 percent. Such comments generally come when the Indian team lost a match. This is a good bunch of boys; this is a good group. We are representing India and that is our main aim, there is no personal agenda,” as he elaborated on the camaraderie and commitment among the players.

Kapil Dev’s concerns centered on the effects of wealth and success on the players’ demeanor. “Sometimes, when too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers, they feel they know everything,” he candidly shared in an interview with ‘The Week,’ highlighting the potential dangers of opulence.

The second ODI against the West Indies witnessed the absence of senior cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who were rested by the team management following a convincing win in the first ODI. However, this tactical decision backfired, resulting in a surprising six-wicket defeat against the Windies in a low-scoring encounter.

Despite the setback, Team India remains undeterred, looking to bounce back and secure victory in the series-deciding third ODI at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Tuesday, August 1. A win in the final match would not only redeem the team’s pride but also clinch the series in their favor.

Beyond the ODI series, both India and the West Indies will turn their attention to the highly anticipated five-match T20I series, scheduled to commence on August 3rd. These matches promise thrilling displays of skill and passion, as both teams seek to assert their dominance on the T20 stage.

As the Indian team continues to forge ahead, their unwavering commitment and unity shine through, silencing any notions of arrogance. In the face of challenges, they stand tall, representing the pride of a nation and embodying the true spirit of cricket.
