India’s prodigy young batswoman Shafali Verma has lost her pole position in the latest update of the ICC Women T20I rankings. The pugnacious batsman could only score two runs in the all-important final of the Women T20 World Cup against Australia and thus she has slipped to third rank with 744 rating points. Beth Mooney, Australia’s southpaw opener, has dethrone Shafali as she was at her best in the tournament.
Mooney top-scored in the competition with 259 runs in the six matches at an average of 64.35 and also scored an unbeaten knock of 78 in the pivotal final clash. Ergo, she was awarded the Player of the tournament and also takes the numero uno position for the first time in her career with 762 points.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Suzie Bates was able to hang to her second place with 750 rating points. India’s southpaw opener Smriti Mandhana who had a horrible tournament as she could only gather 49 runs in four innings, moved down by one place to the seventh position. However, Jemimah Rodrigues who scored 85 runs in the tournament remained at the ninth place in the rankings table.
Alyssa Healy, who was awarded the Player of the match in the final for her blistering knock of 39-ball 75, takes a jump of two places in the rankings ladder to occupy the fifth rank. South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt makes a gain of 13 places to take the career-best 31st rank.
India’s all-rounder Deepti Sharma took a leap of 10 places to grab the 43rd position in the batsmen list.
On the other hand, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav and Poonam Yadav perch at the sixth, seventh and eight position respectively in the bowlers rankings. The bowlers chart is topped by England’s orthodox spinner Sophie Ecclestone who scalped eight wickets in the tournament whereas Australia’s Megan Schutt and Shabnim Ismail take the second and third place respectively.
Australia’s southpaw spinner Jess Jonassen who scalped three wickets in the final has moved to fifth position with career-best rating of 728 points.
