Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has stated the visitors will show their all-rounders’ prowess in the three-match ODI series against India. The tourists have all-rounders like Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Ashton Agar, Sean Abbott, and Mitchell Marsh himself.
Maxwell, Stoinis, Green, and Marsh are well known to consistently contribute with both bat and ball and the quartet will add a lot of value to the Australian squad.
Cameron Green recently scored a fine knock of 114 runs in the fourth Test match against India at Ahmedabad and the lanky all-rounder will look to carry the same form in the ODI series.
“The more all-rounders, the better,” Marsh was quoted as saying by the Australian media on Thursday, 16 March.
“For the balance of our team, having as many all-rounders in here as we can is really important for the structure we line up with,” Marsh further added.
Marsh added that England have savor success because of their all-rounders in the limited-overs format.
“England have guys batting at No.8 that are genuine batters. It gives you the ability to either set really big totals or chase big totals. You’ll see that hopefully this series,” Marsh said.
“And looking forward to the World Cup, just the way the cricket is played here in the white-ball format, you’re going to have to chase big scores or make big scores to be able to defend them,” he further added.
Meanwhile, Marsh’s career has been plagued by a plethora of injury concerns. The all-rounder missed the Border-Gavaskar series due to an ankle injury but will play as a pure batter in the ODI series against India. The 31-year-old from Attadale revealed he is one-month away from attaining bowling fitness.
“I’m probably a month away, three weeks away, from bowling in games,” Marsh said.
“We’ve got a lot of (bowling) options in our team at the moment and a lot of cricket to play this year,” he further added.
The first ODI between India and Australia will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Friday.
