India’s rookie batter Suryakumar Yadav is open to bat at any position in the batting order for the Indian team. Yadav has been batting at number five since he is replaced Venkatesh Iyer in the third ODI against South Africa.
The right-hander has batted at number three for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
Meanwhile, it has been noticed that Suryakumar Yadav has a cool head on his shoulders and plays according to the match situation. Yadav has a lot of domestic experience while playing for Mumbai and has also done a fine job for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
The 31-year old scored an unbeaten knock of 34 runs off just 36 balls to add the finishing touches in the first ODI against West Indies and he would want to continue his good show.
“I am really flexible, wherever the team management wants me to bat, I am really flexible to bat at any position. Yes, I have batted at No.3, 4, and 5, really happy with the way things are going right now,” Suryakumar Yadav said during a virtual press conference.
Yadav revealed that he also practices his bowling and he would be available to bowl if he will be needed by the team.
“Back home, I do a lot of net sessions. The motivation comes automatically. Definitely, whenever there is a chance, I will bowl also. Whenever they feel they can use me, I am always available.”
Yadav added that it is crucial to keep things simple out in the middle and they will look to do the same in the second ODI.
He said, “I think we have kept things really simple, we are going to bat in the same way we did in the first ODI. When we bat first, we have to go all the way and try and post a defendable score. The way we batted in the last game was perfect, the tempo and intensity were nice. There is nothing to change.”
On the other hand, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul have joined the squad in the training sessions. Thus, it will be interesting to note if the management will make any changes to the playing XI.
Yadav added, “They were seen in training, they coming back makes our unit stronger and at the end of the day, it is the call of the team management on who is going to play and who isn’t”.
The second ODI will be played on Wednesday.
