India name two squads for England T20Is; Arshdeep called up for ODIs

The All India National Selection Committee have intertestingly named two squads for three-match T20I series against England. The Chetan Sharma-led panel have named one squad for the first T20I whereas they have named another squad for the remaining two T20Is.

This has been done to give more opportunities to young players and prepare the best squad for the T20 World Cup. India recently played five-match T20I series against South Africa and then played two T20Is against Ireland. The big players such Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah were given rest in these series after the IPL season.

Rohit Sharma will lead the team while Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah returns to the T20I squad for the second and third T20I.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh has received a maiden call-up in the ODIs against England. Singh had impressed while playing for Punjab Kings in the IPL with his ability to bowl accurate yorkers but he is yet to make his T20I debut.

On the other hand, Hardik Pandya returns to the ODI squad after an year. Pandya has been in fine form in T20 format and he will look to carry the same in 50-overs version.

KL Rahul will miss the whole England tour while Shikhar Dhawan retains his place in the ODI team.

India’s squad for 2nd and 3rd T20I: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Umran Malik.

India will play three T20Is and as many ODIs against England. The first T20I will be played at the Rose Bowl, Southampton on July 7.
