Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav lauded Ravi Bishnoi’s performance in the five-match series against Australia, which the hosts won by 4-1 after winning the final game by six runs at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday.
Bishnoi was awarded the Player of the Series for his fine bowling performance throughout the five matches. The leg-spinner scalped nine wickets in the five matches of the series and ended as the leading wicket-taker of the series. Bishnoi returned with figures of 2-29 in his quota of four overs in the fifth T20I.
The leg-spinner was able to provide crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs and delivered for the team along with Axar Patel, who scalped six wickets in the series.
“The way he [Ravi Bishnoi] came back after the first game and to finish with the Man of the Series award, he showed class character,” the Indian skipper commented in a video released on BCCI.TV.
Meanwhile, Axar Patel was awarded Player of the Match for scoring 31 runs and returning with impressive figures of 1-14 in his quota of four overs.
“Axar won Man of the Match in back-to-back games, which is a big thing. I am really happy [for him],” Suryakumar stated.
On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh was able to defend 10 runs in the final overs as he conceded only three runs and also dismissed Matthew Wade. SKY showered praise on Singh for executing according to plan and getting the job done for the team.
“Paaji executed exactly what I told him. I have seen him bowl in such situations in franchise cricket. That’s why I held him back for the last over. Earlier, I told the bowlers that if we can keep 10-12 runs for the last over, the pressure will be on the other side. He kept things tight,” the Indian skipper said in praise of Arshdeep.
After beating Australia, India will now tour South Africa for three T20Is, as many ODIs and two Test matches. The first T20I between India and South Africa will be played at Kingsmead, Durban on 10th December.
