India’s bowling attack can bowl out any team in the world cheaply – Graeme Swann

Former England spinner Graeme Swann has heaped praise on the Indian bowling battery. Swann reckons that the current Indian bowling attack can bowl out any opposition cheaply. India has shown an upward swing in their improvement graph and the pace battery is one of the best in the world.

The fast bowlers have paid importance to their fitness and the rewards have been palpable. The Indian pacers are also bowling at a consistent pace and thus they are breathing down the neck of the opposition batsmen.

A lot of credit also goes to the Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun who has guided the team on the right path. The trio of Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah have been right on the money in the last two years. They have done a fine job for the team and have bowled in the right areas.

Swann was part of the commentary panel during India’s tour to the West Indies in 2019. The former off-spinner observed the pace battery from the close corners and he was really impressed by the skills of the Indian pacers. The pace trio of Shami, Ishant and Bumrah had collectively scalped 33 wickets in two Test matches against the Windies.

“I thought it was incredible and I said at the time, this Indian team right now would bowl out any team in the world cheaply with this bowling attack. The way they’re bowling right now, and I stand by that it’s incredible,” Swann said in a chat show on Sony Ten’s Pit Stop.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was the leading wicket-taker of the series as he snared 13 wickets in two matches at an impressive average of 9.23. Bumrah has had a fine start to his Test career as he has bagged 68 wickets in 14 Test matches.

“England were playing the Ashes, they wouldn’t have watched it. We were there and that was an Indian team, an Indian bowling attack in unbelievable form. Jasprit Bumrah was in incredible form in that series,” Swann said.

The Indian bowling unit has ticked the right boxes and they have been brilliant in the last couple of years. In fact, India has never produced great fast bowlers at one time and the current unit is considered to be the team’s best ever in their history.

The Indian fast bowlers will look to continue the good show going. The pace battery will be next in action during India’s tour of Australia which will take place later in the year.
