Former Indian batter Ajay Jadeja has opined that Gujarat Titans are playing better than we expect or predict in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.
In fact, there were not huge expectations from Gujarat Titans since they are playing their maiden IPL season but they have surely surprised everyone with their consistent performances.
Gujarat have won eight out of their nine matches and they are currently at the top of the points table. Ergo, the Hardik Pandya-led team looks all set to qualify for the playoff stages as they are playing at the top of their game.
GT is coming up with a collective effort in the field as everyone is contributing towards the success of the side. In fact, seven different players have won the Player of the Match for Gujarat Titans.
Players like Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, David Miller, Rashid Khan, and Lockie Fergusson have done an amazing job for the franchise. Furthermore, Hardik Pandya is leading the team from the front as he is playing the anchor’s role in the middle order.
Ajay Jadeja said on Cricbuzz, “Gujarat Titans play better than you expect or predict. They snatched wins in two to three games where defeat seemed imminent. Their last victory (over RCB) was the most convincing one. They were in cruise control. Shubman Gill hasn’t scored runs in a while. Hardik Pandya did not score in the last game. In spite of that, they won with calmness.”
Jadeja added that the forced changes have not impacted Gujarat Titans’ performance as they have been simply outstanding. The players have put their hand up in the crucial stage of the game and they have delivered.
“GT has made as many changes as the other sides, most of them forced ones. However, it did not impact them because this is not a team that plans and plays as per a set pattern. Whichever player comes in is expected to do what is best for the team and what he is capable of. This is the big difference between GT and other sides.”
GT will face Punjab Kings at the Dr. DY Sports Patil Academy on Tuesday.
