Former Pakistan gun fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar hailed Dinesh Karthik’s attitude for not throwing in the towel in his career.
It is well known that Karthik has seen a lot of personal setbacks and also suffered from depression at one stage in his life. However, he worked hard to get back into the Indian team and he has achieved his first goal.
Karthik has been in splendid form in the ongoing Tata IPL 2022 as he has scored 324 runs in 15 matches at an average of 64.80 and a strike rate of 187.28. Thus, he has played a key role in taking RCB to the playoff stages.
Moreover, the right-hander from Tamil Nadu had scored a blistering knock of 37 runs off just 23 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator contest at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Wednesday.
“I usually avoid speaking about people’s personal lives. What I want to say here is that he had suffered some setbacks in his personal life, but he came back really well after that. I have followed his personal life and read quite a bit about it. And I really like how he has come back. I would say well done to him. This is what attitude is all about,” Shoaib Akhtar said on Sportskeeda.
On the other hand, Karthik was also able to make the cut into the 18-man Indian team squad for the series against South Africa. Karthik was able to get back into the team after a long gap of three years.
The 36-year-old has worked hard on his fitness and the results are palpable on the field. Karthik has all the experience under his belt and he is making the most of it.
“It’s a big thing. Dinesh Karthik is a player from my era. He’s really fit and mentally strong. Good things happen to good people. Great to see the way he has made a comeback to the Indian team. My best wishes are with him,” he added.
Dinesh Karthik has evolved as a finisher and he has worked hard on his batting to reap rewards. Karthik will be seen in action in the second qualifier against Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Friday.
