Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan was full of praise for Arshdeep Singh, who has impressed with his death bowling in the ongoing IPL 2022.
Singh has consistently nailed his yorkers and he has bowled with an economy rate of 7.82. The left-arm seamer has taken 10 wickets in 13 matches for PBKS in IPL 2022.
The 22-year-old youngster hasn’t given anything away at the fag end of the innings. Singh has a great yorker under his armory and he has successfully executed it in crunch situations of the game.
In fact, Singh has bowled a total of 34 yorkers in the death overs in IPL 2022, which is the most for any bowler in the tournament. Furthermore, Singh has made great use of the around-the-wicket angle as he comes to bowl from behind the umpire, which makes it more difficult for the right-handers to pick him up.
Meanwhile, Singh bowled another impressive of 3-37 in his quota of four overs against Delhi Capitals on Monday but his efforts went in vain.
“Arshdeep is a special player. He is young, confident and accurate. All these qualities distinguish him from the bowlers of his age,” said former India fast bowler Irfan Pathan on Star Sports.
“He’s keeping big players like MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, or someone else silent in the death overs and that speaks volumes about the kind of talent he possesses.”
Singh has grown in confidence with his consistent performances and Mayank Agarwal has shown more trust in him than Kagiso Rabada at the fag end of the innings.
“His growth has been phenomenal. Despite the presence of a proven international pacer in Kagiso Rabada, an uncapped Indian seamer is getting the recognition prove how good a talent he is. He’s going to be the next big thing for Punjab Kings,” he said.
Arshdeep Singh has shown the skills to go a long way in his career and there is no doubt that he isn’t far away from a well-deserved Indian cap. In fact, many cricket boffins reckon he should be included in India’s T20 World Cup squad.
