Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Pat Cummins has revealed that he will miss the second phase of the Indian Premier League, which will be played in the UAE.
Cummins has revealed on his YouTube Channel that his partner Becky is pregnant and they are expecting a child when the IPL begins.
In fact, earlier, there were reports that Cummins will not take part in the second leg of the IPL. However, it has been confirmed that the England players will now take part in the IPL after their tour to Bangladesh has been postponed to March 2023.
“Unfortunately, at this stage, I don’t think I will go for the IPL. Haven’t made an official call, but Becky, my partner, is pregnant, and our baby is due right in the middle of the IPL.
“There are also travel restrictions on getting back to Australia. There’s a two weeks quarantine, and there’s also a quarantine going into the UAE. So it’s going to be tough to go and play there.”
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins was in red-hot form before the 14th season of the Indian Premier League was indefinitely postponed by BCCI due to the surge in number of cases.
Cummins scalped nine wickets in seven matches for Kolkata Knight Riders and he was the pick of the bowlers for the Eoin Morgan-led team. Furthermore, Cummins scored 93 runs, including a blistering knock against Chennai Super Kings.
However, KKR didn’t have the best of first half of IPL 2021 as they could only manage two wins out of the seven matches they played. Thus, KKR will need to turn the tables in the second half.
Cummins is looking forward to playing in the T20 World Cup, which will begin from October 17 in the UAE.
“There’s also the World Cup straight after that, and I am hoping to be good to go for that,” the 28-year-old confirmed.
