Delhi Capitals veteran spinner Amit Mishra has opined that he tries to bowl in the good areas after he scalped 4-24 against Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Tuesday and played a key role in the success of his team.
DC was able to restrict Mumbai Indians to a paltry score of 137 runs and Mishra played a key role in putting the breaks on MI.
Mishra added that his style is to give the ball some air and try to get it to dip on the batsman. The leg-spinner from Haryana showed all his guile and experience in the favourable conditions and breathed down the neck of the opposition batsman. Mishra took the big wickets of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, and Kieron Pollard to push the opposition on the backfoot.
Mishra first got the big wicket of MI skipper Rohit Sharma, who was looking threatening after scoring 44 runs from 30 balls. Sharma couldn’t get the connection he was looking for and holed down to long-on, where Steve Smith took a simple catch. Subsequently, Mishra dismissed Hardik Pandya on the first ball and the leg-spinner stated that he always looks to take Pandya’s wicket.
Amit Mishra was awarded the Player of the Match for his fine bowling performance. In fact, this was Mishra’s first match of the season and he was able to deliver the goods for his team.
Mishra said in the post-match presentation, “Just tried to bowl good areas, just try to take wickets. Different bowlers have different styles. My style is to bowl in the air. Don’t want to change much. Sometimes the speed maybe. I try to understand the wicket and bowl like that. They are winners for MI and so I always go for wickets against these guys initially. I was worried but I knew our batters are smart enough. They have some experience now after playing two matches here”.
Mishra has all the experience under his belt and he was able to deliver the goods for DC. The leg-spinner is one of the most successful bowlers in the IPL and his records speak for himself.
DC will play their next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 25th April.
