Mumbai Indians talisman batter Suryakumar Yadav is optimistic that they will bounce back stronger in the next season of the Tata Indian Premier League 2023. It was a disappointing season for the five-time champions as they finished the season as cellar-dwellers. The Rohit Sharma-led team could only manage four wins in 14 matches of the league stage and even had a poor NRR of -0.506.
MI failed to come up with a collective effort throughout the season as they could not get going with either bat or the ball. Despite such a dismal season, there were some positives for Mumbai Indians, including the likes of Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, Tim David, and Suryakumar Yadav, who all did a decent job with the bat.
Suryakumar Yadav went on to score 303 runs in eight matches at an impressive average of 43.29 and a strike rate of 145.67 before he was ruled out of the season due to muscle strain.
He is expected to be ruled out of action for the next four weeks, according to reports in Cricbuzz. Thus, he will also miss the five-match T20I series against South Africa. In fact, Yadav had also missed the first couple of matches for MI in the Tata IPL 2022 due to injury.
SKY is currently going his rehab at the National Cricket Academy at Bengaluru. The talisman is expected to be part of the T20 World Cup squad and he will look to bounce back stronger after recuperating from injury.
SKY has played seven ODIs and 14 T20Is in which he has scored scoring 618 runs, including six fifties. Yadav has the skills to hit the ground running and he will be looking to make a solid comeback after recovering from injury.
Meanwhile, MI will need to come up with better performances if they are to go all the way in the next season of the IPL. The top and middle-order could not going and the bowlers also failed to bowl in the right areas.
