Former Indian skipper Mithali Raj has showered praise on Virat Kohli after his another impressive knock of 50 runs against Delhi Capitals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Saturday. Kohli scored a fine knock of 50 runs from 34 balls to help his team post 174 runs on the board.
The talisman scored six fours and one six in his fine knock while opening the innings. Kohli has been in good form and he was able to carry the same. In fact, RCB had lost their previous two matches and it was a much-needed win for the franchise.
Kohli made the most of his experience against Delhi Capitals and batted at the top of his game for RCB. The veteran has scored 214 runs in four matches of the season at an average of 71.33 and a strike rate of 147.59.
Speaking to Star Sports, here’s what Mithali Raj had to say about Virat Kohli’s knock: “An opener setting momentum for team is important in T20s and Virat did just that against Delhi Capitals. Virat charges against the bowlers who are bowling at a speed of 140/150 kmph. He’s never bogged down by the bowlers. The strike rate with which he’s scoring runs in the middle will give the confidence to the other batters to do well when they step in.”
On the other hand, in another Saturday match, LSG lost against Punjab Kings by two wickets. However, LSG’s skipper KL Rahul scored a decent knock of 74 runs from 56 balls against PBKS. Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan feels Rahul’s return to form is good news for LSG.
“KL Rahul coming into form is good news for Lucknow. This will give confidence to this team. If Rahul’s bat speaks, this team will post a good score. And he has some quality bowlers who can defend the total for Lucknow Super Giants.”
RCB will next take on Chennai Super Kings at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Monday whereas Lucknow Super Giants will next face Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur.
