IPL 2023: You are seeing the next generation of Indian batters – Aakash Chopra hails Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock against CSK

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra lauded Yashasvi Jaisal’s knock after he played a superb knock of 77 runs off just 43 balls against Chennai Super Kings at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on Thursday. The southpaw took the attack against the CSK bowlers from the get-go and timed the ball to perfection.

The youngster played according to the field and played at the top of his game. The left-hander helped RR score 64 runs in the powerplay overs as he smashed 40 runs from 21 balls.

The Mumbai batter smashed eight fours and four maximums as he scored his runs at a strike rate of 179.07.

Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel, “Rajasthan chose to bat first after winning the toss and Yashasvi came and shone. He is the answer to every question. The guy is amazing because of the way he started, the way he drove the ball, how well he bats.”

The former Indian opener added: “The way he is batting, you have started to see India’s future, whether you talk about Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Sai Sudharsan, Abhinav Manohar – you are seeing the next generation of Indian batters. So Yashasvi was brilliant.”

On the other hand, the renowned commentator was surprised by Jos Buttler’s sedate knock of 27 runs from 21 balls as the England batter failed to make the most of his good start.

“Jos Buttler – I was surprised. When he plays like this, he plays a big knock. How he missed out in the middle, it’s very unlike Jos Buttler, but he got out and the game slowed down slightly.”

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson scored a run-a-ball 17 for RR and was dismissed while trying to take the attack against Tushar Deshpande.

“There are problems for Sanju Samson – 17 runs off 17 balls. He promoted himself but he is not scoring too many runs and that is a bit of a problem because his performances have gone slightly down.”

The former KKR batter showered praise on Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal who scored 34 and 27 runs respectively to finish the RR innings on a high.

“You sent Devdutt Padikkal down the order, although he played well. He was scoring runs while playing different-different shots towards the end. Dhruv Jurel also scored very important runs and they went past 200.”

Rajasthan Royals will next take on Mumbai Indians in the 42nd match of the ongoing IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday.
