IPL 2024: ‘Smart’ Shubman Gill will be a very good captain for Gujarat Titans, says Sai Sudharsan

Gujarat Titans youngster Sai Sudharsan feels Shubman Gill will be a very good captain for the franchise in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Gill was named as GT’s skipper after Hardik Pandya decided to move to Mumbai Indians in an all-cash trade deal.

Gill, 24, will become one of the youngest captains in IPL history and he will look to lead from the front. Pandya, on the other hand, had led Gujarat Titans to glory in IPL 2022 and then also took the franchise to the final in the previous season.

Meanwhile, Gill scored 890 runs in 17 matches of IPL 2023 for Gujarat Titans at an average of 59.33 and a strike rate of 157.80. Thus, he played a key role in the team’s success and finished as the highest run-getter of the season.

“Gill is a very smart cricketer. He will definitely be a very good captain. I used to relate with Gill a lot. I see him and learn in what ways I can get better as a batter. The way he carries himself, his body language. There are a lot of things to admire about Shubman Gill. At the same time, I can relate to a lot of things, especially in terms of getting better every day as a batter. We have a lot of conversations whenever we have time. They are very useful,” Sai Sudharsan said while talking to India Today.

On the other hand, Sudharsan revealed how Ashish Nehra gets the best out of his players. The former Indian pacer has done a fine job in the last two years in the success of the franchise.

Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan scored 507 runs in 13 IPL matches at an impressive average of 46.09 and a blistering strike rate of 137.03. The young southpaw had scored a fine knock of 96 runs in the IPL 2023 final against Chennai Super Kings. After his impressive performances in the last season, he was retained by Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction.

Sudharsan also earned his maiden call-up for ODIs for the tour of South Africa.
