IPL 2025 Auction: 23 Indian Players Register for INR 2 crores base price

The IPL 2025 Auction is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling cricketing events of the year, with 1,574 players registered for the two-day event set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

This auction will bring a new level of excitement as franchise teams look to reshape their squads for the upcoming season, with several high-profile Indian cricketers and a significant number of international players up for grabs.

Of the 1,574 players registered, 1,165 are from India, while 409 are from overseas, including 30 players from associate nations. Out of the total pool, 320 players have previous IPL experience, while 1,224 players are hoping to make their debut in the prestigious tournament.

Several Indian stars have set their base price at the maximum permissible limit of INR 2 crores, which includes well-known players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal.

These players, some of whom captained their respective teams in the past, were recently released by their franchises, making their availability a major highlight of this auction.

Mohammed Shami, who has been on the recovery path following an injury during the 2023 World Cup final, has also listed himself at the INR 2 crore mark after being released by the Gujarat Titans.

Other marquee names in this bracket include Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh, all of whom bring extensive IPL experience and have been mainstays in India’s T20 cricket landscape.

In total, 23 Indian players have registered at the INR 2 crore base price. This group consists of:

Batters and wicketkeepers: Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, and Devdutt Padikkal.

All-rounders: Venkatesh Iyer, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, and Shardul Thakur.

Bowlers: Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, T Natarajan, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav.

Additionally, Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan, who went unsold in the previous IPL auction, have registered with a more modest base price of INR 75 lakh, which could attract franchises looking for potential bargains with a proven track record.

This year’s IPL auction promises intense competition as franchises strategize around budget constraints and team balance. With experienced players returning from injuries, seasoned campaigners seeking fresh starts, and new talents waiting for their breakthrough, the auction in Jeddah is set to be an unmissable spectacle for cricket fans worldwide.
