India’s veteran fast bowler Ishant Sharma has said that Pakistan is not at the same level as India amid the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. In the continental tournament, India has defeated Pakistan in both matches they have faced each other.
While the Men in Blue won the Group Stage contest by seven wickets, Suryakumar Yadav’s team won the Super Fours clash by six wickets at Dubai on Sunday.
Abhishek Sharma scored a match-winning knock of 74 runs off just 39 balls in the run-chase of 172 against the arch-rivals. In fact, India has a 7-0 record against Pakistan in the last seven T20I games. Pakistan’s last win against India came back in 2022 in the Asia Cup at Dubai.
“Pakistan already have so much pressure on them, how will they handle more from us? If you look at the matches, their fans in the crowd are always shouting behind them from the stands. Actually, sometimes I feel bad for them,” Ishant said on Raj Shamani’s podcast.
“The pressure will be high (during an India vs Pakistan match), but that was more during the time when they had great players like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, Saqlain Mushtaq, Afridi… these were great players. The kind of talent, exposure, and infrastructure we have, they are not even close,” he added.
India has ticked the right boxes in T20Is, and they have won 31 out of their last 34 games. Team India has adopted a fearless approach under head coach Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav, and the results are palpable.
India will next take on Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Wednesday.
