ISL 2022-23: Midfielder Rohit Kumar pens two-year contract extension with Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC midfielder Rohit Kumar has extended his contract by two years, the club announced on Saturday. Rohit had signed with the Blues in the 2021-22 season and with the help of the new contract, he will stay at the club till the 2024-23 season.

The 26-year-old scored three goals in the 19 matches of the recently concluded season for Simon Grayson’s team and thus played an instrumental role in taking them to the finals of the tournament.

“The love and support I’ve received since I joined Bengaluru FC has been immense, and I’m really happy to sign for two more years here. I strongly believe that this is the best place for me to grow, both as a player and a person, and that made the decision to sign on an easy one. The belief shown by the coaches, management and my teammates has helped me develop, and I’m looking forward to many more special moments in front of our fantastic supporters,” said Rohit, following the completion of formalities on his deal.

Rohit was also part of Bengaluru FC’s title run at the Durand Cup and did a good job in the ISL. Simon Grayson also expressed his delight after extending the midfielder’s contract.

“We’re all really delighted to be able to secure Rohit’s signature. He’s a player that waited patiently for his chances, and worked extremely hard during that period. Rohit put on some outstanding performances in the League, which also led to a call up and debut with the National Team. It’s been quite a week for him, with his birthday and now the new deal at the club. Rohit knows the hard work needs to continue, and I’m sure he’ll be a part of many more special moments at this football club,” said Blues’ boss Simon Grayson.

Rohit has so far made 36 appearances for Bengaluru FC across all competitions for Bengaluru FC and he will look to keep doing a good job for the club. The midfielder will be seen in action in the upcoming Hero Super Cup for the Blues.
