England’s talisman batter Harry Brook has revealed it is a dream come true moment for him to be involved in his first Ashes and he is looking forward to facing relentless Australian bowling line-up. Brook has taken Test cricket like fish to water and he has impressed with his aggressive approach.
In his young Test career of seven Test matches, Brook has amassed 818 runs at an average of 81.8 but more importantly, he has scored his runs at a strike rate of 99.03. Brook has shown the skills to take the game from the opposition from the get-go and he is going to hold the key in England’s middle order.
The right-hander had scored 468 runs in three Test matches against Pakistan at an average of 93.60 and a strike rate of 93.41, including three centuries.
Brook is known to turn the match on its head with his aggressive batting and he would look to be at his best in his Ashes debut.
“Obviously they might have a little bit of extra pace, but if they bowl quicker it tends to go to the boundary quicker,” said Brook as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.
“It’s a dream come true to be involved in my first Ashes,” said Brook. “Growing up I was watching some of these players who are still playing, against the best in the world and the best Australians. I’m looking forward to it.”
“I feel like I’m more part of the team now. Obviously, as a deputy you don’t quite feel like you’re meant to be there if you know what I mean. So to have been contributing and gain a few match-winning performances this winter has meant the world and I feel a big part of the team now.”
Meanwhile, Harry Brook didn’t have a great IPL 2023 season for Sunrisers Hyderabad as he scored only 190 runs in 11 innings at an average of 21.11 and a strike rate of 123.37. Ergo, he will be determined to turn the tables in the Test format.
The first Ashes Test starts Friday at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
