Former Indian skipper Kris Srikkanth criticised Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-rounder Cameron Green after they suffered a six-wicket loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Raipur on Wednesday. Green scored 32 runs off 24 balls and once again could not convert his start into a substantial score.
The Australian all-rounder has scored 264 runs in 11 matches of the ongoing IPL 2026 at an average of 33 and a strike rate of 145.05. Thus, he has failed to deliver consistently for the three-time champions after he was bagged for a whopping amount of INR 25.20 crore in the mini-auction.
Srikkanth said Green has become someone who bats for himself rather than the team. The former opener praised Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who scored 71 runs off 46 balls but slammed Green and Ajinkya Rahane.
He said on his YouTube Channel, “Raghuvanshi played very well but their problem is guys like Rahane. Cameron Green ate away too many balls. He has become someone that just bats for himself. He was 14 off his first 15 balls. When Raghuvanshi has given you such a great start, this is not how you support. Green only pulled them down.”
The 1983 World Cup-winning player said KKR could have posted 210 runs if Green had changed his gears.
“Otherwise, KKR would have reached 210. They lost the match between the fifth and 10th overs. Green didn’t play for the team. He played selfishly. Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh tried hard again in the end after Green’s dismissal. But even there, the 18th over went for seven runs. That’s where Rinku also should have exploded.”
The former Indian batter also questioned KKR for backing Vaibhav Arora, who conceded 48 runs in his four overs and also went wicketless.
“While we all talk about the run-feeder that Romario Shepherd is, KKR have one in Vaibhav Arora. I don’t know why KKR keep picking him. He just gifts runs for fun every match,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).
KKR will next take on Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Saturday.
