Delhi Capitals’ Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly has said that Rishabh Pant has worked very hard and he is confident of doing well in the upcoming season of the IPL 2024. Pant met with a horrific car accident at the start of 2023 and since then he has been on the long road to recovery.
The left-hander has been working hard on his fitness and was seen recently practicing in an indoor session as well as in the gym. Earlier, Delhi Capitals had confirmed that Pant will lead them in the upcoming season of the IPL. However, Pant will not take the glovework role for the franchise.
Pant has amassed 2838 runs at an average of 34.61 and a strike rate of 147.97 in 98 IPL games and he will look to hit the ground running on his return.
“It’s a huge boost for Delhi Capitals because Indian players are gold in the IPL. Obviously, he has not played much cricket and I hope he gets back to rhythm very quickly. It’s been a while he is away from competitive cricket, almost 17-18 months. He has worked very hard to make a comeback. He is confident and wants to play for Delhi Capitals and India. I am extremely happy he is back and hope he gets through the season,” Ganguly told Revsportz.
Pant will look to lead from the front in the upcoming edition of the IPL and he is certainly going to add value to the team. DC had finished the previous season at the ninth place with five wins in 14 matches and they will aim to turn the tables.
