Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has rated India as the red-hot favorites for winning the ongoing T20 World Cup.
India has a formidable unit and they can go all the way in the tournament if they come up with collective efforts. Inzamam reckons that the Virat Kohli-led team is one of the most dangerous teams in the sub-continent conditions.
Furthermore, the Indian team is well prepared as all the players recently took part in the Indian Premier League, which was played in the same conditions as the UAE. India will look to tick the right boxes in the T20 World Cup and they will aim to come up with their best.
On the other hand, India convincingly won both of their warm-up matches against England and Australia by seven and nine wickets respectively. Thus, they look in ominous form and they have already fired a warning to the other teams.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Inzamam-ul-Haq said: “India played their warm-up fixture against Australia rather comfortably. On subcontinent pitches like these, India are the most dangerous T20 side in the world. Even today, if we see the 155 runs they chased down, they did not even need Virat Kohli to do so.”
The former Pakistan batter added that India has experienced T20 players in their team, who can guide them to their second T20 World Cup title.
“In any tournament, it cannot be said for certain that a particular team will win. It’s all about how much chance do they have of winning it. In my opinion, India has a greater chance than any other team of winning this tournament, especially in conditions like these. They have experienced T20 players as well.”
Meanwhile, India and Pakistan will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against each other on 24th October. Inzamam added that the high octane clash will be the finals before the main final of the tournament.
“The match between India and Pakistan in the Super 12s is the finals before the final. No match will be hyped as much as this one. Even in the 2017 Champions Trophy, India and Pakistan started and finished the tournament by facing each other and both the match felt like finals. The team winning that match will have their morale boosted and will also have 50 percent of pressure released from them.”
India is certainly entering the tournament as one of the favorites and it will be interesting to note how they go about their matches.
