Former Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla reckons Jasprit Bumrah’s overs will be crucial for India in Australia clash. Bumrah has been in sensational form in the ongoing T20 World Cup and he is going to hold the key against the Aussies.
The gun fast bowler has scalped 10 wickets in five matches at an outstanding average of 6.50 and an impressive economy rate of 3.42, which is the best for any bowler, who has played more than three matches in the tournament.
“Jasprit Bumrah is the big point of difference in this World Cup. He is the person who would be on any team sheet. He is somebody who can take a lot of wickets. And I think when you’ve got a player like that in your rank and bowl four overs; I think Australia are probably in a little bit of trouble. I can imagine that he would be putting them under a serious amount of pressure, but it’s going to be a great one to watch,” Paul Collingwood said on Star Sports.
The leg-spinner hailed Bumrah for bringing his top game in the big matches of the tournament.
“Whenever he steps onto the field, he brings his A-game out. And we have seen what he can do with the ball surface doesn’t matter for him because we have seen what he has done in the US where the wickets were seaming around and when we came to the Caribbean, the way he bowled, he used the pitch really well with the good effect. He used his cutters and then his pace-on deliveries and he’s somebody who can bowl yorkers at will. But he knows when there is something in the pitch for the bowler and he didn’t even try to use those yorkers against Bangladesh. Those four overs are very, very crucial,” Chawla said while speaking on the same panel.
Bumrah has been right on the money in the ongoing T20I showpiece and he is going to hold the key for the Indian team. India will next take on Australia at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia on Monday.
