Australia’s ace paceman Pat Cummins believes the English conditions would suit New Zealand more than India in the forthcoming World Test Championship final, which will take place at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton from June 18. New Zealand is already in England as they are preparing for the two matches Test series, which will be an ideal way for them to get acclimatise to the conditions and prepare for the WTC final.
On the other hand, the Indian team is currently in Mumbai, where they are completing their quarantine process. The Virat Kohli’s men will travel to England on June 2 and they are expected to begin their preparation from June 12. Thus, New Zealand certainly will have the advantage on their side as far as preparation for the WTC final is concerned.
Cummins noted that it has been raining in England in the last few days and the Kiwis will hold the advantage against India.
Pat Cummins said while answering a fan’s question on his YouTube Channel, “It will be a good match. There has been a lot of rain in England and from the conditions point of view, it is closer to New Zealand’s. It is going to be interesting as both teams haven’t played a Test match in a couple of months. It is a one-off so anything can happen. But the conditions would suit New Zealand more than India.”
Meanwhile, both the teams have a potent pace battery and a lot will depend on how their batsmen perform in the crucial match. New Zealand will be better prepared as they have been in England for some time now whereas India will need to hit the ground running.
India was the most consistent team in the WTC cycle as they won 12 matches out of the 17 they played whereas New Zealand finished at the second place after seven wins.
On the other hand, Pat Cummins had recently played for KKR in IPL 2021 and scalped nine wickets in seven matches.
