Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has shared a message with all of the Indian fans ahead of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Sharma reflected on the last month after leading India to a T20 World Cup triumph. Team India was able to break their major ICC title hoodoo after beating South Africa in the final by seven runs at Barbados.
Subsequently, Rohit decided to call it a day from T20Is and Suryakumar Yadav has been handed over the captaincy baton. Rohit said it is now time to move on and take the field in a new partnership with a new coach, Gautam Gambhir.
The Indian skipper is open to the upcoming challenges and wants to give his best on the field to get the desired results.
Rohit said in a video uploaded by BCCI, “Wow, what a month it was. Flooded with memories, etched in history, aisa moment jo humare saath rahega (A moment that will stay with us). So much so that I feel that I can put my pads on in the shortest format.”
“Time aa gaya hai for us to step on the field. Ek naye daur ke saath, ek nayi shurwaat, ek naye coach ke saath (A new era, a new beginning, and with a new coach). A partnership that will hold Indian cricket paramount. Team India utregi field pe, kuch naye aur kuch jaane pehchaane cheron ke saath (Team India will step on the field with some known and unknown faces).”
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has an immaculate record against Sri Lanka in ODIs. The Indian opener has scored two double centuries against the Island country, including the best score of 264.
The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Friday.
