Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan feels Australia will have an added advantage due to a long list of all-rounders. Australia has all-rounders like Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh, and Cameron Green, who all have done a fine job for the team in the recent past.
Furthermore, skipper Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Sean Abbott can contribute with the bat while batting down the order. Khan feels the more number of all-rounders will definitely give a huge advantage to Australia in the upcoming World Cup.
“Australia has a great squad for the ODI World Cup. Especially they have long list of all-rounders which will be an added advantage for the side. Glenn Maxwell is also set for a return in the side. They have Cameron Green, Mitchell Marsh, and Marcus Stoinis. Cameron Green is one of their attacking top-order batters who do not let you settle in as a bowler. Sean Abbot is a great player as well and should further strengthen the squad,” Zaheer Khan said on Cricbuzz.
“In India, we talk about Hardik Pandya being a huge plus for the side, and Australia have 2-3 of those and that’s why they will have the added advantage in the ODI World Cup,” he further added.
On the other hand, Australian opener Travis Head, who has been in great form in the last couple of years, has been ruled out of the first half of the World Cup due to a finger injury, which he suffered in the fourth ODI against South Africa.
Australia will take on India in the first ODI at Mohali on Friday. The Aussies will also begin their World Cup campaign against India at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 8th October.
