Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has opined that he has not seen many dominant ODI teams like India in the recent past. India continued to march strongly in the ongoing World Cup as they gave a 243-run hammering to South Africa at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday.
This was India’s eighth win in as many games as they are the only unbeaten team in the tournament. India has been a force to reckon with in their conditions and they have come up with a collective show.
The hosts have ticked the right boxes with both bat and ball as all the players have contributed to the team’s success. The bowlers have been right on the money and they skittled out South Africa at only 83 runs after the team posted 326 runs on the board.
“See, that Australian team was a very, very good side, top side which obviously showed in their performance. They didn’t lose a single game in that particular year. Also, in the previous year as well. They won 3 consecutive World Cups. With Team India as well, they are on the same path, if you see from the top till the bottom, you will see match-winners. People have won games on their own for India,” Harbhajan told India Today.
India is coming up with collective shows and the Turbanator hailed all the players for putting their hand up whenever they are required.
“First game, we talk about KL Rahul’s performance, Virat Kohli has been doing it match after match, Rohit Sharma, the kind of starts he is giving to the team. I have not seen many teams dominating like this in recent past.
Harbhajan is hopeful that India will continue its good form in the knockouts and they shouldn’t have a bad day in the big matches when it matters the most.
“I hope this will continue, I am keeping my fingers crossed. I hope they don’t have a bad game, when it requires, you want everyone to put everything on line. We don’t want to put any nazar (evil eye). They look very aggressive bunch of guys, when it comes to batting, and bowling. It actually makes us feel very proud. Bowlers are winning games, I am very happy,” he added.
India will next take on the Netherlands at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday.
