Sri Lanka will begin their World Cup campaign against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on 7th October. The Dasun Shanaka-led team recently made it to the final of the Asia Cup but they were rolled over by the Indian juggernauts.
After the continental tournament, Dasun Shanaka was reported to step down as Sri Lankan skipper but in the end, it was decided that he would continue to lead the team in the World Cup. Shanaka isn’t in the best of forms in the recent past and he would want to turn it around in the ODI showpiece.
Sri Lanka has some quality players in their team but they will certainly miss the services of talisman spinner Wanindu Hasaranga.
