Former I-League champions Aizawl FC have added six more players to their squad ahead of the 2020-2021 I-League season.
All six players are local players as coach Stanley Rozario hopes to boost the fortune of the side that finished last season just one place above the bottom spot.
Hence, Stanley believes the addition of the players, whom the club has been monitoring before now, will add more quality and depth to the squad.
“We have followed these players closely for a long time before signing them. They will add more depth and vigour to our squad. Now, it’s up to us to get them into the system quickly and get going once the season kicks off,” Stanley was quoted on some Indian media.
The newly added players included 3 midfielders and 2 defenders as the team conceded 19 goals while scoring only 17 last season.
Only Real Kashmir and the All India Football Federation developmental side Indian Arrows fared worse than Aizawl FC last season.
David Laltlansanga, Vanlalnghenga and Thasiama, Vanlalzuidika, K.Lalmalsawma and PC Laldinpuia are the players recruited by the Reds
Meanwhile, in the India Super League, Jamshedpur has signed forward William Lalnunfela and winger Bhupender Singh on three-year contracts ahead of the new 2020-2021 India Super League season scheduled for Goa behind closed doors.
Bhupender Singh comes into the team with experience in the I-League, having played for Aizawl FC, whom he represented in the AFC Cup and AFC Champions League. He also once featured for Mohun Bagan.
Manager of the Jamshedpur side, Owen Coyle, stated both players would bring flair and fluidity to the teams forward as well as improve the depth of the squad.
Jamshedpur FC will be looking forward to making the Playoffs spot next season, having missed out on the playoffs last season.
