Mohammedan Sporting Club striker Marcus Joseph said that the ISL teams are good but at the same time, expressed confidence in his abilities. The Trinidad and Tobago International had impressed in the previous season of Durand Cup and the I-league and he will look to continue the same in the ongoing season.
Joseph scored five goals in six matches for Mohammedan SC in the previous season of the Durand Cup and finished as the leading goal-scorer in the tournament. Thus, he played a key role in taking the team to the final of the tournament but they couldn’t cross the final hurdle against FC Goa.
Similarly, Joseph finished as the highest goal-scorer in the I-league and once again played a huge role in taking his team to the final of the competition. He was the leading goalscorer in the division after scoring 16 goals during the campaign and was awarded the Golden Boot.
The 31-year-old has once again got off to a good start in the ongoing Durand Cup as he scored a stoppage-time goal against reigning champions FC Goa in the team’s 3-1 win.
Joseph said while talking to Sportskeeda, “For me, the results depend on how you play on a given day. I prepare myself to produce the best result on every match day. The ISL teams are good and so am I. If we stay focused and create enough chances, I’ll take those chances and make the most of them.”
Joseph also admitted that he receives a lot of support from the team’s management and he wants to keep playing at the club in future years.
He added, “The investors [BunkerHill] and the club officials are good people and I share a great relationship with them. When I’m getting so much support from them, why wouldn’t I stay at Mohammedan for the next season and many more seasons to come?”
Mohammedan SC continued their impressive form in the Durand Cup as they bested Jamshedpur FC by 3-0 on Sunday.
