East Bengal head coach Carles Cuadrat very impressed with the welcome from the fans

Carles Cuadrat’s new challenge with East Bengal FC has started and the Spaniard was very much impressed with the welcome that he received in Kolkata. Currently, the former Bengaluru FC tactician has started laying the groundwork for the upcoming season which starts with the Durand Cup.

“The way people welcomed us at the airport, and after that, everything has been going in the right direction, working very well with the management, with the staff, with the players, so it’s a good feeling,” Cuadrat spoke in an interaction with East Bengal FC.

East Bengal have struggled to get results in the Indian Super League. In their three seasons in the league, they have finished ninth or lower and Cuadrat is here to change that narrative for the Kolkata club.

Cuadrat who has won the ISL title with Bengaluru FC have hopes of turning the table for East Bengal in the upcoming season. Therefore the signings look very promising as most of the foreigners are experienced ISL players. Even the domestic signings have also impressed the fans as they hope for a better outcome than last season.

They have indeed signed some big names in this transfer window. Their signings include players like Javier Siverio, Borja Herrera, Saul Crespo, Nandhakumar Sekar, and Prabhsukhan Singh Gill to name a few. While they will add more players to the roster, the team is shaping up very nicely.

The Spaniard knows what it takes to win and he is ready to set that foundation in East Bengal which will help the Red and Golds to turn around as they aim to rise up the table in the ISL.

It will take time for Cuadrat to implement his style of football but with the upcoming Durand Cup, the Spanish tactician can test waters before the main test in ISL. “It has been great (at) training (sessions), I’m really happy with the boys who have been working really hard. Sometimes we have to stop them because of the intensity of the training but it’s a good sign,” he added.

“Really happy for the season to start, just waiting for the rest of the players to come. We are going to do a good job,” Cuadrat concluded.

East Bengal are in Group A of the Durand Cup 2023 and the Red and Golds are clubbed with arch-rivals Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Bangladesh Army and Punjab FC.
