Spanish Midfielder Edu Bedia will remain with Indian Super League league stage winners, Goa FC, for one more season despite recent rumors linking him with a move to Jamshedpur.
Edu Bedia signed a one-year extension with the Gaurs to keep him there till 2021. At the end of the contract, it will mean that Edu will have spent four years with Goa having to move into the team in 2017.
He made 18 appearances with a single goal and had 2 assists, but he managed to improve in terms of productivity as he contributed to 12 goals, 7 goals, and 5 assists.
The arrival of Frenchman Hugo Boumous and his rise in the 2019-20 season saw the playing time of Edu Bedia limited as he played 13 games but only saw 529 minutes of playtime mostly as a substitute.
One of the few games he managed was the second leg of the semi-final of the India Super League against Chennaiyin when he scored in the 81st minute of the game although the eventual 4-2 win was not enough to saw Goa move into the finals as their 4-1 first leg loss did the damage.
Chennaiyin FC eventually lost the final of the playoff to Atletico De Kolkota 3-1.
Meanwhile, Spanish defender Carlos Pena could retire before the start of a new season. The 36-year-old joined Goa in 2018 and has made 39 league appearances since then.
Also, Senegalese defender Mourtada Fall could leave the Guars as well as he has interests coming in from Asia and Africa.
This is after ex-coach Sergio Lobera left the club before the India Super League and reports claim that he could team up with Mumbai City FC.
Goa FC could also bring in an Australian defender ahead of their participation in the AFC Champions League.
