England will face Denmark in the second semi-final of the Euro 2020 tournament in a bid to face Italy in the showpiece final on Sunday at Wembley. England are expected to beat the Danes after having enjoyed a successful tournament thus far.
England have won 4 and drawn one game, whilst scoring 8 times and conceding none. Yes, you read that right! England have kept a clean sheet in all 5 of their matches.
Raheem Sterling has been their best player in an attacking sense as he has earned them more points than anyone else with 3 goals and 1 assist to his name.
England captain Harry Kane broke ended his goal drought when he scored a header against Germany in the round of 16. He scored a brace in the 4-0 win over Ukraine which is a great sign of English fans.
Denmark were not at all expected to reach the semi-finals before the tournament. Their hopes were tarnished even more when they lost against Finland and Belgium in the first two matches. Since then, they have been excellent by winning 3 matches in a row.
Neither are they are potent in front of goal as England, nor do they boast of a great defensive record. But anything can happen in knockout football and one moment of magic could see them reach the final. They will depend on their star man Kasper Dolberg to score the goals.
Denmark have won the Euros previously in 1992. England may have won the World Cup 55 years ago, but are yet to be crowned champions at a European Championship. England have won just 1 of their last 6 competitive meetings with Denmark, with that victory coming in the 2002 World Cup.
This game should be won by England as they are the stronger team on paper, have performed better and will have the backing of 60,000 fans but that’s not how football works. If Denmark turn up on Wednesday and dare to dream, they are more than capable of beating England.
