Hyderabad FC’s inconsistent form continued as they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Chennaiyin FC in their latest Indian Super League clash. They once again missed a chance to go second in the points table with a win. New signing Mohammed Sajid Dhot handed the Marina Machans the lead but Javi Siverio brought the Nizams right back into the game.
Hyderabad FC head coach Manolo Marquez was visibly frustrated with his team’s performance as they missed a flurry of chances. They could have easily buried the game for good but instead, they could only salvage a point from the game.
Hyderabad FC have a lot of players who have predominantly been left-wingers but Marquez prefers Aniket Jadhav. When questioned about how he decides who should get the nod, the Spaniard said, “Aniket Jadhav had some problems in his hamstring in the last minutes. Even the other day against Kerala and today again, he has problems in finishing the games.
“In his position, we had the option to use Seityasen (Singh), Yasir (Mohammad), Aaren (D’Silva) or (Rohit) Danu. If I pick one player you will ask about another. This is normal in football.”
Despite the draw, Marquez credited his team for the character that they showed. He lauded them for the performance as even Chennaiyin FC created chances but they managed to eke out a point from the game. “This game shows the character of the team. In some moments we played very good, created clear chances,” the Spaniard added.
“In other moments, the other team created clear chances but the team showed good character, which is very difficult to train. Not the foreigners but the Indian players, they are very young and in some moments we played very good and in some, very bad,” Marquez continued.
Bartholomew Ogbeche missed the game due to suspension so Javi Siverio played in his place. Speaking on the young Spanish forward’s performance, the veteran Spaniard said, “Javi Siverio for me was the Hero of the Match.
“He was the best player in our team. Maybe, it would be now better to play both (Siverio and Ogbeche) together. We have to change the system or not, but Javi played very well. I did not miss Bart in the game.”
Hyderabad FC jump up to the third spot in the points table but they are three points away from league leaders Kerala Blasters. The Nizams will be going up against Jamshedpur FC in their next league clash as the league intensifies.
