Manchester United kicked off their preparations for the next season with a 2-0 win against Rangers FC on Saturday. Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill scored the Red Devils to give them a perfect start in the preseason.
United’s goalkeeper Andre Onana, who had a difficult time while playing for the club in the previous season, shed light on Leny Yoro’s debut. The Ghanian custodian feels if one wants to be a Manchester United player, he needs to have quality. Onana said Yoro has a lot of talent and he has the backing of the team.
Onana said while talking to the reporters as quoted by Manchester United Evening News, “That’s why he’s here [he has lots of talent]. If you want to be a Manchester United player, you must have quality and he’s already shown himself in the first half. He’s a young player, a talented player, good on the ball, so we’re going to enjoy him this season.”
“He will [have the temperament], he will, and we’re here to help him. We’re going to give him time, we know he’s going to be alright and we have very good scouts here, so if they made him come, that means he’s got a lot of quality,” added Andre Onana.
The goalkeeper also shed light on United’ preparations for the forthcoming season, stating it is going in the right direction.
“I think it’s very positive for the whole club, it’s about all of us because we win and lose together. The club decided to make a lot of changes, so as a player, we just have to follow the decision.
“I think this process has to start at the start. We’re going to fight for everything, of course, we know all what happened last season, but it’s in past and we have everything in our hands,” added the Cameroonian shot-stopper.
Speaking on the upcoming matches in the preseason, “We’re going to America next week to prepare for the Premier League. It’s a tough league, the best league in the world, so we’ll be ready for the new season. Last season, I don’t want to talk about it [laughs], so this season, it’s going to be nice.”
United will next take on Arsenal on Saturday.
