The 55th match of the ongoing Hero Indian Super League saw the top two teams – ATK Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City FC take on each other. Mumbai City FC came out on top in the end as they defeated ATK Mohun Bagan by 1-0 at the Fatorda Stadium on Monday.
Bartholomew Ogbeche scored in the 69th minute for his team with a brilliant goal. The Nigerian received a back heel assist from Hugo Boumous and he was up to the mark to help his team take the lead.
Mumbai City FC head coach Sergio Lobera was delighted with the performance of his team and heaped praise on all the players. Lobera added that he is very happy with the work of his team especially defensively as they kept ATK at bay.
“ATK Mohun Bagan are a very dangerous team. It is not easy to score against ATK Mohun Bagan. We were well-balanced in offence and defence and I am very happy with the work of my team, especially defensively,” he said.
The Spaniard was pleased with the performance of his team and stated that the team has worked hard in the practice sessions to go past a potent team like ATK Mohun Bagan. Mumbai City was dominant right throughout the first half and played at the top of their game.
“I am very happy with the performance of my team, especially in the first half. We worked over the last few days to improve ourselves against a very good defensive team. We created chances and we had good opportunities,” Lobera said.
Lobera urged his team to not take their foot off the pedal as half of the league matches are yet to be played. The chief coach understands that things can quickly change in ISL and wants his players to keep giving their best without getting complacent.
