The seventh season of the Indian Super League came to a close as Mumbai City FC was crowned as champions as they defeated ATK Mohun Bagan by 2-1 at the Fatorda Stadium on Saturday. Bipin Singh scored a late goal for the Islanders as Sergio Lobera’s team came up with a collective effort.
After the conclusion of the ISL, we take a look at different awards which were handed to the best performers of the season. Here are all the awards:
Golden Boot: FC Goa’s Igor Angulo scored 14 goals in 21 matches to bag the prestigious award of Golden Boot and also bagged a cash prize money of INR 2,50,000. In fact, ATK Mohun Bagan’s talisman Roy Krishna also scored 14 goals but he took 23 matches to score the same number of goals.
According to the ISL rules, when two players score the same number of goals, the one who averages fewer minutes to score a goal, wins the Golden Boot award.
Angulo averaged a goal per 117.5 minutes while Roy Krishna needed 147.3 minutes for the same.
Golden Ball: Roy Krishna bagged the award for his consistent performances in the ISL 2021. Krishna scored 14 goals and also provided eight assists to his team. The talisman received a cash prize of INR 5,00,000 for his sublime performance.
Emerging player of the season: NorthEast United FC’s Lalengmawia, fondly known as Apuia, won the Emerging Player of the Season award and a cash prize of ₹4,00,000.
Golden glove: ATK Mohun Bagan’s Arindam Bhattacharya won the award for his brilliant goalkeeping. Arindam kept clean sheets in 10 matches and he made a total of 59 saves in the season. He won the cash prize of INR 2,50,000.
